The Dirty Little Secret About Dryer Computers If you play by their rules, it’s going to cost you! How dryer manufacturers keep taking your money over and over again, after they’ve sold you your dryers. The designed in “weakest link” that works fine, until after your warranty runs out! What you can do about it It started twenty-eight years ago. Dave, a friend and fellow laundromat owner, was frustrated by the chronic problems with his dryer computers. Every time one broke down, he was faced with an unexpected expense and having a dryer down. Of course the new computers were expensive. He even tried to have some fixed by computer and electronic repair shops locally…, with no luck. As a favor, I checked out his computers, fixed a few, and discovered some interesting things… When an expensive computer failed, it was like they were “set up” by design! What I found was: Usually a minor part caused a major problem Some components were running at their rated capacity (normal design standards are at 80% so that they don’t burn out.) The computers were designed to be very robust except for a few parts or weak points that would ensure they would fail – but in a controlled manor. How a Rebuilt Computer Can be Better Than New Hint: Keep the good parts and get rid of the “weakest links”! Since Dave was a fellow laundromat owner and friend, I knew that he would want his computers rebuilt the same way that I would want mine rebuilt. First repair and upgrade the borderline parts and weak spots, even if they were still good – to prevent problems (get rid of the “weakest links”). Next, identify problems and potential problems – repair/upgrade those Thoroughly test – most usually pass the first time through Further repairs if needed Retest Originally I started doing more rebuilding because I enjoyed helping other laundromat owners and working with electronics. It was always the same approach of quality and reliability. And especially getting the machines back up and running as quickly as possible! I knew what Sundays were like at my laundromat! As word spread, other laundromat owners found that it made sense to have their dryer computers rebuilt. There were many requests for ignitor repairs, different brands, etc.. Of course employees had to be added to keep up. I personally trained anyone who would work on a computer. Each one is thoroughly trained and never waivers from the dedication to: Quality: skilled repairs and testing Reliability: any original substandard parts are upgraded – whether good or not! Fast turn around (usually 2-3 days unless there are unusual problems) The Easiest Way to Save Money on the Best Parts You already have the parts. Have them upgraded when they need repairs. Typical Upgrades Motor relay circuits are upgraded for higher capacity and more reliability Borderline ¼ watt resistors are upgraded to 1watt to 2watts with the same electronic characteristics Capacitors that tend to go bad are upgraded to a higher breakdown voltage Full One Year (non-prorated) Warranty This means full coverage for a full year. If your computer malfunctions for any reason, simply return it and I will fix it free. (Of course damage, vandalism, bad touch pad, are excluded). Many companies give a 90 day warranty on a brand new computer..This one is covered for a full year. To have your dryer computer rebuilt, place your order and check out as usual. A shipping label will be mailed to you to use to send in your computers. (Shipping is only $10.50 each way, or $21.00 for the round trip).
