Hello, everyone 🙂 For sale is collectible perfume from Soviet Union times USSR, Cologne Severniy (Northern)FLacon was designed by Kazimir Malevitch in 1900s. Was released in 1911, lived through revolution and war, and was discontinued when USSR ended. flacon height is 8 inches ,widest part is 4’Label shows year of 1977 This is very rare hard to find nowadays item from Soviet Union era, could be great exhibit in your museum, or addition to a collection. This is interesting article and some information for you about this fragrance: «In 1908, the owner of the perfume factory, Alexander Brocard, ordered Malevich to draw a package design for the Severny cologne. Malevich needed money – then he was not yet a well-known author of Suprematist compositions. After the artist developed a sketch of the bottle, he handed over all his drawings to Adele Yakovlevna Yakobson. She was responsible for the bottle manufacturing technology at the Bakhmetevsky glass factory.Surprisingly, in Soviet times, no one knew that Kazimir Malevich was the author of the bottle for the famous Severny cologne: only in the early 2000s, art critic Alexandra Shatskikh found proof of Malevich’s authorship – his signature on the pre-revolutionary Severny advertisement. The same advertisement that helped establish the authorship of «Northern»»Northern» went on sale in 1911. The bottle depicted an iceberg with a polar bear standing on its top.The choice of the topic at Brokar’s company was by no means accidental: the entire end of the 19th century was marked by great interest in the Arctic, the public followed the expeditions to the north with bated breath. «Northern» was conceived as a fashionable thing, so they did not save on the bottle – hence the cracked glass, which is difficult to manufacture, and the double cap (a ground cork was hidden under the bear). The new dawn brought back the pre-revolutionary «Northern» almost immediately after the restoration of perfume production – but not because of its high aesthetic or perfume qualities. The Soviet Union needed to develop the North – there were huge mineral reserves in the northern territories, the conquest of the North opened up new economic and political prospects, and «Severny» was ideal for propaganda.It may seem that the content of a bottle with such a history does not play an important role, but the scent of «Northern» is beautiful without discounts. «Northern» is a classic floral cologne of the Cologne type. Many colognes were advertised in the 1900s as floral, and I don’t know if «Northern» really stood out. I can say one thing for sure: this fragrance is fully consistent with the theme stated in the title and visualized in the bottle. «Northern» has a slightly prickly freshness of snow on a frosty sunny day – if you throw up a handful of loose snow in complete calm and put your face under it, you will have the same feeling as when you first inhale the aroma of this cologne. The perfumers really portrayed the North.»Northern» smells of cold and quite a bit – of an animal skin frozen in the cold. The smell of a wild beast makes its way through the icy air smoothed and ennobled, a kind of almost elusive animal without «darling». Coniferous notes work to enhance the frosty effect – of course, where polar bears are found, Christmas trees do not grow, but the North is large and is not limited only to the Arctic Circle. In the end, the North is snow, and for the Russian people, it is the smell of pine needles that causes associations with snow for several centuries.In the fragrance of «Northern» one can feel an emphatically eau de cologne structure: a lot of air, a lot of play and radiance, and an almost imperceptible base.
