IBM NetVista A40 Computer PIII 866Mhz 512Mb 6578-RBU PS/2 REFURBISHED TESTED CLEAN WORKING This is a very clean, working NetVista IBM Computer. It is one of the highest end configurations of this line from IBM. It boots quickly to Windows 2000. It is a slot 370 Pentium 3, running at 866Mhz, with a 133Mhz front side bus. There is a roomy 512Mb in 256×2 72 pin simm RAM. The HD is only 20Gb, but it is fast, and fairly quiet. The computer was totally disassembled. All plastics and metal chassis parts were washed and cleaned. The motherboard, HD and NIC card were cleaned of all dirt and dust. The floppy drive heads were cleaned, and screw rod and guide rail lightly lubricated. All cables the were cleaned. The PSU was opened and cleaned of all dirt and dust. A new coin battery was installed. The CPU fan and heatsink were cleaned. The old thermal paste removed, and new pasted was applied. The computer boots WIN 2K then loads a QuizNos Sub Sandwich franchise backroom application. That is why there is a ‘key’ attached to the parallel port. It is password protected so there is not much that can be done, but an interesting piece of vintage PC archeology. The floppy drive is working. The CD-ROM is not working. The lens for the laser has fallen out. I taped it to the inside of the CD-rom case if the buyer wants to fix it. The plastics are brittle. There were several pieces floating around the case when first opened. I taped them near the PSU for late use. The plastics that hold down the cards is also broken. I taped it in place to hold the slots covers in place. The case has a few nicks but nothing to bad. The front plastics are a little yellowed, but still match the painted metal case. The CD-ROM is more yellowed, and since it is not working, should be replaced. After extensive testing, the system will not POST/boot without the original FD, HD, NIC card, and PSU attached. You can not even get into the BIOS screen without these attached. IBM did something with these parts that they only work together. The monitor and keyboard are not included. A lot of work went into restore this computer. It works but there are issues. Most of these computers are eBay are just checked to see if they power up or now. This was fully tested, cleaned, and given an accurate description. Please see photos for content and physical condition. There is no warranty and I am selling as-is with no returns. I work as high school teacher and the only days I can ship are a few days on Monday, and every Tuesdays and Thursdays. I don’t ship on the weekend because my box store is not open on those days, I am busy testing and posting computers for sale, and I want to spend some time with my family. Thus, I place a «3 days to ship» to accommodate these issues. Thank you for your understanding. I only use eBay Global Shipping Service on International Order, no exceptions. I will ship to Hawaii, Alaska, PO Boxes, and PR, even though I have a block on these areas, but they will be subject to paying exact shipping cost that will be calculated. Please ask prior to purchasing the computer. eBay policies leave me with no choice but to mark each of my auctions with a “no return” policy. This is being done to protect me against returns such as (buyer’s remorse). After using the item for days and weeks, the buyer can submit a return and is not obligated to reimburse the seller for shipping charges and I have to pay for shipping charges back. Even though it is marked a “no return, “a buyer can still submit a return if the item was not as described or the item was damaged during shipping. Also, I do not need an eBay policy to do what is right and accept the item back if it wasn’t as described or damaged during shipping. Keep in mind, that I mainly sell vintage computers and vintage computer accessories. That said even though the box/item may not show damage, the internal mechanism may have been damaged or jarred from a rough truck and/or plane ride. I will work with ALL my customers to resolve the problem. Recently, I have had to take back items where the buyer didn’t check with mom/dad, husband/wife, or God prior to buying and did a return. eBay forced me to take the item back. Personally, I do not think that this is an acceptable way to return items. Many of the sellers on here are just trying to provide for their families and this kind of previous return is not fair to the seller. We are not Walmart or Costco that cannot absorb these financial damages. Again, I will work with all my costumers to ensure that they are happy with the item they purchased.
