This item is for one new genuine Palomar Max-Mod transistor. These are heavy duty high wattage transistors used for high powered 10 & 11 meter radios that use a PNP type AM pass regulator transistor. These transistors are larger than most OEM transistors found in most brand radios. When installing them, they require drilling a new screw hole above the existing factory mounting hole for the regulator. You must make sure you have enough clearance for this larger than factory transistor BEFORE ordering. Factory installed transistors usually always run hot and result in diminished performance the hotter they get. These transistors, due to their larger size, will run cooler and usually result in improved output and modulation. Proper technical skills, tools and soldering equipment is required for installation. IF YOU DON’T POSSESS ALL OF THESE THINGS, DO NOT ORDER THIS ITEM. Be sure to clean away all old heat sink compound and use the new included heat sink grease. Also, make sure there are no metal burrs on the mounting surface that could damage the mica insulator before installing. Please see the last photos for manufacturer’s datasheet information.
