One, WIDE RANGE, FOUR SECTION miniature tuning capacitor with knob and screws. NOTE: See our other listings, for this capacitor with a genuine KEYED knob. Unused polyvaricon radio tuner capacitor. FOUR SECTIONS, two 270pF and two 25 pF. Each section has an individual trimmer. These are probably NOS (New Old Stock) parts. Terrific capacitor for crystal radios, allows you to tune the entire AM band without switching in capacitors or inductors. As a general rule, for crystal radios use one or both 270pF sections with trimmers set to minimum, not the 25pF sections, as that will increase the low range value, without significantly increasing the high end range. This is the perfect substitute for expensive 365pF air variable capacitors that are normally used in crystal radio sets, and the range is better! In addition, the minimum value of this capacitor is lower than most air variable capacitors (typically 3 – 4 picofarads), giving you a wider range (ratio) of capacitiance. This is the same capacitor used in the low cost version of our HIGH PERFORMANCE, DOUBLE TUNED crystal radio kit. See our other listings for that item. Complete with knob and screws. Knob is NOT an actual tuning knob, but an excellent replacement, and features a rubber outer ring, see photo. The ring provides a very comfortable grip, and is superior to the serrated edges on many tuning knobs in our opinion. Knob attaches by compression fit with screw. Knob may two additional small holes in it. NOTE: Colored sections of part may be white or beige color. Nominal body size is 0.85″ square by 0.62″ high, excluding knob attachment.
