Welcome to The Speaker Port! Upgrade and modernize your vintage unit’s speaker terminal with The Speaker Port’s custom-made banana plug conversion kit! The plates are designed and created ONLY for models that are provided in this listing. This kit MAY fit other models or even brands, however, we have developed, tested, and properly fitted this part ONLY on the models listed. If you choose to purchase a terminal kit for another brand or model that is not listed, we provide no guarantee or warranty that it will fit, and you will do so at your own risk. Please keep in mind that what you receive may differ slightly than what is pictured, depending on the model chosen, terminal options for the plates, etc. The photos shown are not necessarily showing the panel for your chosen model, but to show you how these look installed on a similar unit. Please read through this entire listing before purchasing this kit. The kit in this listing is guaranteed to fit ONLY the following:Sansui AU-777 Integrated Amplifier – **This specific unit’s terminal panel is held onto the unit using plastic screws. Yeah, plastic. The likelihood that these will snap or break when removing them is VERY high, so you should have some replacement screws available (4 of them) to install the new panel. Product features:Includes all necessary replacement plates as well as the terminals for the speaker outputs on your specific modelPlates are rigid and able to withstand the abuse that the terminals typically experienceAllows for the use of individually terminated male banana plug tips or uniform bracketed plugs for your speaker wiresAllows for bare wire attachment (usually 10awg max), which improves the look and wiring optionsYou can either: solder the internal speaker wires directly to the back of the terminals, unless the speaker wires behind the terminal blocks are fairly tight, in which case the use of ring terminals is recommended. Ring terminals are not included, but can be chosen as an option on this listing. If the kit is purchased on our website, ring terminals as well as some other options are available to choose from.You can repurpose your original mounting hardware.NOTE: By purchasing this unit, you understand that the installation of this part does require certain skills and competency using tools and a soldering iron. If you are not comfortable doing this work yourself, take it to an electronic repair shop, such as The Speaker Port (; …and they should be able to perform the installation for you for a fee. INSTALLATION NOTES:You will need some basic tools/materials, such as a Philips screwdriver, wire cutters/strippers, soldering iron/solder, etc. These items are not included.There is plenty of slack in the existing internal speaker wires to re-attach to the new plate, but still snip off the wires as close to the plate terminal as possible to make sure you don’t «cut yourself short».Keep the wiring orientation exactly as it was with the originals. (Take pictures of the existing wires for reference before you begin.)For best connectivity, we recommend soldering the wires to the tips of the new terminals.WARNING: DO NOT overheat the back end terminals. Nothing more than a normal 40W soldering iron should be used and even so, make sure you are proficient in the right procedure for soldering wires onto terminals such as these. If the screw terminals get too hot, it could melt the plate and/or bushings of the terminals.If your original panels used machine screws with an embedded threaded nut, this will NOT be present on this new panel. We recommend the use of a slightly larger self-taping screw or a normal machine screw with a nut and washer on the back side. This hardware is not included, but should be locally available in your favorite hardware/box store.DISCLAIMER: Any vintage audio product contains aged components and wiring. As a result, you need to take care while working on this unit. It is not uncommon for parts or wires to crack, snap, or break off while trying to manipulate any part of the unit after 40+ years of age. I started with repairing and restoring vintage audio speakers and stereo systems. Within the first year, I took on both home and professional grade systems (PA systems, guitar amps, etc.). I work on all component types (receivers, turntables, tape decks, power amps, etc.), and all makes and models. I hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, but spent the better part of my 22 year professional career in Information Technology. Through it all was a deep love for music and music reproduction. More recently, I have established relationships with a number of music stores and studios, servicing their units, as well as third party customer equipment. I’ve also developed my own line of hard-to-find, vintage part reproductions using 3D CAD design and printing technology. As The Speaker Port continues to grow, I look forward to being able to provide top shelf customer services as well as products to go with it. PricingWe are a business, and we work very hard to ensure that each unit or product we sell is ready for a new owner and able to last. Our prices will likely be a bit higher than some of what you may see from other sellers or websites. Our pricing reflects the cost of the unit, the cost of parts required, and the amount of labor required to service the unit. Typically our products also come with a warranty, and if so, it will be stated in the listing. As we price each unit, we also have to take into consideration the fees that eBay takes from each sale. As we grow, we are slowly introducing a store on our website to cut the cost of these fees.
