In the event you pay excess shipping, overage will be refunded immediately to you. This is a very tea or coffee cup in Johnson Brothers «Friendly Village» pattern. Labeled «flat cup» by popular china matching services. Pictured on each side are red-painted barns and out buildings with snow-laden trees and icy river. It is hand-painted in what is known as «clobbed» transferware — which means the colors were hand-painted on top of the brown transferred printed design. Cups do not have hallmark, the words «Made In England» are impressed on the bottom The words «Made In» allows us to date the piece after 1918. I have guesstimated the available cups are from early 1900’s as the other pieces acquired at the same time were all c. 1900. The saucers are hallmarked as seen in photo #3 – «The Ice House ~ {image of mail box on post} The Friendly Village ~ Made in England by Johnson Bros. ~ Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.». Dimensions: Cup: – 3.5″ Diameter at top, 1-7/8″ Foot diameter. With handle, 4.5″ Wide. 2.25” Tall. Saucer: – 5.5″ Diameter x 1″ Tall. Cup indentation is 2″ diameter. I recently purchased a large set of this pattern. See my other items if similar pieces are of interest. Condition: Excellent giftable condition. No crazing or discoloration. Paint intact without erosion. No chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, cracks, hairlines, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo’s. Don’t feel anything amiss when I run finger around edges. Colored transfers and clobbed overpainting are intact, with good color, no scratches or erosion. Combined unpacked weight: 10.1 oz. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description.
