Warm greetings from Japan. Thank you very much for visiting our listing. This is Martin & Co. D-18 Natural Acoustic Guitar. Made in 1969-1970. The condition and information of the product are as follows. At first, it was stated that it was made in 1969-1970, but the serial number (257xxx) means that it is an early 1970 model, so it is actually a 1969 model, and the reinforcement tape inside the sound hole to prevent cracking is fastened in the same way as in the late 1960s. (This is personal confirmation.). This model is almost fully original, and only the saddle and pickguard have been replaced. The spruce top is made of high-quality material with a tight grain, and although there are weather checks and dents, there are no cracks that reach the inside, so considering the age, probably it is in good condition and clean. The mahogany on the sides and back is also made of high-quality material, and there are no noticeable scratches considering the age, but as shown in the photo, there is a round mark of paint only on the side shoulder. (It may or may not be visible depending on the light, so it may come off if polished.) The neck is also made of high-quality mahogany, and the truss rod is not of this year, but there is no warping or twisting. However, there are some paint irregularities (wrinkles) on the back of the neck, but I don’t feel any discomfort when playing. Probably the fingerboard and bridge are Jacaranda. There is some wear on the low frets (1-3), but about 90% remains. The pegs are original vintage Grover PAT. PEND. USA stamped (these pegs alone are valuable and fetch high prices at music stores and auctions), and they move smoothly. The string height is about 2.3 millimeter (.09 inches) for the 1st string and about 2.8 millimeter (.11 inches) for the 6th string at the 12th fret. The nut is original, and the saddle has been replaced with a bone saddle. The pickguard has been replaced to the same size as the original, so there are no Martin cracks. There are also some corrections to the binding. When you hold it while standing, it is around your belly button, so it is not noticeable at all. A hard case is included, but please think of it as just for packaging purposes (packed in bubble wrap inside the hard case). Despite what has been stated, this guitar is in good condition overall, and considering its age, it is a very valuable instrument (those who know will know). There are marks on the whole. The case has signs of wear due to storage. Please inspect pictures for condition reference.
